On Thursday, February 2, 2023, SMPD Detectives effected an arrest warrant for a homicide that occurred August 14, 2022. Samuel Reyes Espinoza, 23 years, and a resident of Santa Maria was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for Murder with a gang enhancement and was booked into the Santa Barbara County North Branch jail with his bail set at 4 million dollars.
The case stemmed from the shooting death of Felix Ivan Antonio Antonio, who was shot while in his vehicle. The shooting occurred in the 200 blk. Of W. Newlove. The decedent did not appear to have any gang affiliations.
