We are delighted to announce that Sansum Clinic has secured a contract with Blue Shield of California for individual health insurance plans offered through Covered California. This means that Sansum Clinic should be an in-Network provider for plans sold by Blue Shield for individuals through Covered California. It is always a good idea to confirm with your insurance broker or with Blue Shield that the plan you choose will include Sansum Clinic, as those plans will be available.
As of January 1, 2018 Anthem Blue Cross will no longer offer individual health plans in Santa Barbara County through Covered California and many other counties throughout the state. Blue Shield of California is the only insurance company offering individual plans to people who live and work in Santa Barbara County. We encourage everyone who is able to obtain individual insurance to sign up with Blue Shield during open enrollment, between November 1 and January 31.
Our mission is to provide patients in our community with access to high quality, cost-effective care, close to home. As the largest provider of outpatient healthcare services in our area, we are pleased to be able to ensure our patients continuity of care at Sansum Clinic and happy to continue our long relationship with Blue Shield of California.

Nov 30, 2017 08:14 PMMy doctor at Sansum told me that Blue Shield offered to reimburse Sansum 40% of costs. That's why Sansum haggled until the last minute, and precisely WHY the fees at Sansum are so exorbitant. Because they charge a huge amount to get repaid less than half of it by the insurance company.

Nov 29, 2017 02:16 AMPaid a price all year though. They made us pay all Urgent Care or other services like MRIs and beyond all year when they cut Blue Shield. When we got to Urgent Care in an Urgent situation and they made us pay $160 out of pocket rite then and told had to Blue Shield they didn't take them anymore that was in March!
