Santa Barbara County firefighters extinguished an RV that caught fire on Highway 154 Thursday afternoon.

At 2:33 p.m. firefighters responded to the area just west of Edison Ave in the Santa Ynez Valley. They found a 24-foot RV on fire that had spread to nearby grass.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire preventing further spread.

The RV owner was on his way to Arizona and escaped without injury.

He was not traveling over the 154. He lives in Santa Ynez, had filled up with gas in Buellton and was using the 154 off 101 to get back to his house.

Yes - like recently having a 40' RV stuck/blocking Old San Marcos Rd. recently at the "hairpins" for several hours. GPS listing as a "shorter route" on same has lead to increased traffic in general, with drivers who are clearly not experienced with the road. Add to that an increased use by cyclists, many not aware of the dangers.

Trending staycation RV's and first time RV drivers along with GPS directions to use San Marcos Pass - anyone else thinks this is a recipe for disaster?
