The Santa Maria Police Department’s Community Service Unit (CSU) with assistance from the City Code Enforcement and Santa Maria Fire Department conducted several Massage Parlor Inspections throughout the city. The goal of the inspections is to educate and bring the businesses to compliance according to the new massage parlor ordinance. Follow-up inspections are planned for all the businesses with the violations.

During the inspections, several muni code violations and two alcohol violations were identified and will be handled via the City Attorney’s Office for corrections and/or prosecution. A female from the Monterey Park area was also contacted during the inspections of the 7 Day Spa. After an investigation she was arrested for prostitution. She was later cited and released.

The city plans on continuing these types of massage parlor inspections. Any questions regarding licensed massage parlors are encouraged to contact the Santa Maria Police Department's Community Service Unit.

Prostitution Arrest During Massage Parlor Inspection

If no one is coerced, legalized sex workers do business in clean surroundings with medical oversight and competitive rates. That cuts down disease, substance abuse, rape and male violence due to involuntary abstinence. How weird that those not involved feel compelled to monitor other people's sex lives! If morality is the issue, snoops & trouble-makers should address their own morality not others engaged in consensual sex.
