Police Explorers win 3rd Place at Central Valley Explorer Competition

From June 23-25, 2017, the Santa Maria Police Explorers participated in the Central Valley Explorer Competition in Modesto, California. 

The Police Explorer competition included 36 teams and over 400 police explorers from throughout Northern and Southern California. Eight (8) SMPD Explorers participated and were evaluated in 16 reality based scenarios including; Use of Force, Downed Officer Rescue, High Risk Vehicle Stop, Family Disturbance, Shooting Skills, DUI Investigation, Hostage Rescue, Bus Assault, Active Shooter, Hostage Negotiations, Vehicle Search, Burglary in Progress, Suspicious Person, Traffic Stop, Critical Incident and Crime Scene Investigation. 

Santa Maria Police Explorers Maria Morales, Anthony Olozagaste, Julian Mireles, Isaiah Nogalez, Alexis Brito, Dulce Garduno, Johnatan Fuerte and Antonio Alonso participated in the competition. 

The Santa Maria Police Explorers performed very well and earned a 3rd place award in the High Risk Vehicle Stop scenario.

The Santa Maria Police Council sponsors the Santa Maria Police Explorer Program and generously provided financial support for the police explorers to attend this event.
