Police Ask for Help to Locate Battery and Elder Abuse Suspect

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public to help locate a Felony Domestic Battery and Elder Abuse suspect.

In the early morning hours on 05/06/2018, 24-year-old Nicholas Jay Castillo went to his former girlfriend’s home in the 4700 block of Chandler Street, a county unincorporated area between the cities of Goleta and Santa Barbara. Castillo forced his way into the residence and then he violently attacked his former girlfriend. While assaulting his former girlfriend, Castillo also assaulted a 76-year-old female housemate that was home at the time. Both victims sustained multiple injuries during the attack. Castillo fled from the residence and the crime was not reported to the Sheriff’s Office until later in the day.

Castillo faces a number of criminal charges including burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, and elder abuse. Castillo has eluded law enforcement and assistance from th e public is needed to locate him.

Castillo is a local mixed martial arts instructor. He has ties to Goleta, Santa Barbara, and the Los Angeles area.
