On October 23rd, 2022, at 8:03PM, SMPD Officers were dispatched to a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian at the intersection of Broadway and El Camino. Officers located an unidentified adult male suffering from major injuries due to the collision.
SMPD’s Traffic Bureau was called out to investigate. They discovered the male had been walking on the sidewalk on Broadway before crossing an unmarked area of Broadway and El Camino. A vehicle (which was headed northbound on Broadway) struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian is listed in critical condition and has yet to be identified.
The driver was cooperative, remained on scene and provided officers with a statement. At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
