Night Closures of Highway 101 in Carpinteria

Nighttime Freeway Closures 

  • Highway 101 will have the following closures between Linden and Bailard Avenues
    • Monday through Thursday nights, September 10th – 13th
      • The northbound and southbound Highway 101 fast laneswill be closed starting at 8:00 pm and will reopen by 5:00 am daily.
      • One freeway lane will remain open in each direction during the lane closures.

Linden Avenue Overcrossing

  • Work continues on the side supports (abutments) for the new section of the overcrossing. Crews will pour concrete for the first side support in this stage of work.
  • Southern California Edison will raise electrical lines near the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Linden Avenue
    • On Sunday night, September 9th, the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Linden Avenue will be closed from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Drivers can use the off-ramps at Reynolds Avenue or Casitas Pass Road during the temporary closure.

Casitas Pass Road Overcrossing

  • Crews will continue removing dirt from the new median piles, install rebar cages, and will pour concrete. Work will occur nightly. Please see lane closures listed above.
  • Wood form work and rebar installation continues for the side supports (abutments) – see photo. Crews will pour concrete for the side support footing.
  • New northbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Casitas Pass Road
    • Grading and installation of roadway base will continue.

Highway 101

  • Carpinteria Creek Bridges (northbound and southbound Highway 101)
    • Northbound bridge
      • Crews will finish installing post tension steel cable through the bridge internal supports (stems) and then remove wood form and temporary supports (falsework).
    • Southbound bridge
      • Concrete has been poured for the bridge surface (deck). Crews will begin installing post tension steel cable through the bridge internal supports (stems).
  • Northbound Highway 101 sound wall between Linden Avenue and Franklin Creek (Nipomo Drive)
    • Sewer line relocation is finished.
  • Southbound Highway 101 sound wall south of Franklin Creek  
    • Crews will remove vegetation in preparation for the upcoming sound wall.
  • Drainage improvements continue along northbound Highway 101 under the Casitas Pass Overcrossing.

Via Real

  • Frontier Communications will be running their cables in a couple weeks. 
  • Via Real will have one lane open between Casitas Pass and Vallecito Roads for the next few months.

Upcoming Work: fall/winter

  • The Highway 101 southbound off-ramp at Casitas Pass Road will close for up to 1 month. Detour maps can be viewed at SBROADS.com.
