Movie Tickets are $3 on Saturday

You read that right, movie tickets will be rolled back to the same price as they were in the 80s, just three whole dollars this Saturday

September 3 is “National Cinema Day” and the Cinema Foundation announced the one day event will include more than 3,000 participating locations and over 30,000 screens. It celebrates a summer of record-breaking moviegoing with movies and a special sneak peek of upcoming titles from A24, Amazon Studios, Disney, Focus Features, Lionsgate, Neon, Paramount, Sony Pictures Classics, Sony, United Artists Releasing, Universal, and Warner Bros.

The day is meant to celebrate this “summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas,” Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman said in a statement. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.” 

Metropolitan Theatres announced it will be joining in on the celebration which will bring together audiences of all ages to enjoy a day at the movies with exclusive previews and special in-theater promotions at a discounted admission of $3 for all tickets, all movies, all formats, all day.

Additionally, guests can enjoy a special concession promotion in-theatres of a $6 small popcorn and small soda combo.  Tickets can be purchased at MetroTheatres.com, on the Metropolitan Theatres Mobile app, Fandango and at theatre box offices.

The Riviera Theatre also stated it will be celebrating with $3 tickets for its showings of THE GOOD BOSS, HALLELUJAH and FIRE OF LOVE.

  1. Yeah, but are the snacks at the concession stand are at a very low price as well? I do believe that a small soft drink is $6.00. I have no idea how much a medium or large would cost at the Metropolitan Theaters would cost. And how much is the popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, candy ice cream and bottled water? Me I would like maybe 3 hotdogs, medium popcorn, some candy, maybe some ice cream and a large soft drink. What would that cost today at a Metropolitan Theater, about $60.00, 70.00 or 80.00?
