Lyft, the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S., announced will become the first rideshare company to sponsor the University of California, Santa Barbara athletic seasons from Fall 2018 through Fall 2021.

The three-year partnership begins during this weekend's men's soccer game versus Westmont on Saturday, August 18 at Harder Stadium and will feature an exclusive Lyft pick-up and drop-off area at the Stadium Road entrance. Giveaways, discounted rides and fun Gaucho-themed activities are some of the additional perks that Lyft passengers will experience during each athletic season.

"Smart and convenient rides to and from UCSB events are the shared commitment of both Lyft and the school's athletic programs," said Elliot Greenberger, Market Manager of Lyft Southern California. "Lyft is happy to provide an affordable and reliable option to help this year's students, athletes and fans get to the games without worrying about a ride home."

"We are excited to partner with Lyft," said UCSB Director of Athletics John McCutcheon. "Lyft is a premier rideshare company and Gaucho Athletics is proud to welcome them to our family."

Lyft is the worse for Drivers . Lyft sends drivers disturbing text messages to drivers . Threatens them . Will not pay drivers for no shows and passenger cancellations without the driver having to fight to get what is due them .Lies to driver regarding how far it is to passenger's pick up location . Use Uber . Lyft is Satan.

Lyft Discounted Rides? Is Lyft picking up the tab or are Driver's getting paid less? Doesn't UCSB know that Drivers don't make a decent living wage and these "sharing economy" are great for investors, but terrible for the people doing the menial work? USCB should cancel this partnership.

you do realize that lyft/uber/rideshare was never meant to be an income. its meant to be a rideshare, something where if you are traveling in that direction already you take someone else with you, they pay you a bit for the convenience of hitching the ride. sooner or later the insurance companies will start denying claims of accidents while being used for a commercial business, without properly insuring your vehicle as a commercial vehicle.
