I generally take note of resident dogs while out walking. This is one of my favorite blocks & I've never seen a pitbull. However off-leash dogs are a common sight - a large golden retriever on the 700 block of Soledad that comes out and approaches my dogs causing all hell to break loose, and a senior chihuahua on the 1200 block of Diana Rd. The pitbull is probably from the Voluntario area or below. I've seen a few there.
Pitbulls are very nice friendly dogs until they bite off a 4-year-old's face.
Dog that bit someone, and a pit to boot, is not going home anytime soon. At the very least will be on a 10-day quarantine at the shelter. They owner might not come for it to avoid the medical bills of the bitee. If the bite was severe, the only way to save it from being killed (euthanized) is to send it to an out of town rescue that promises it will never come back to the city. Finding one that has room for a dog like this is always hard.
