Lompoc Man Charged with Murder After Dog Park Stabbing

A 30-year-old Lompoc Man has been charged with murder after stabbing another man at a dog park last month.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that charges have been filed in connection with the April 3, 2018 death of Theo Bennett that occurred in Lompoc.  Kenneth Robbie Whalen, age 30, is charged with murder, in violation of Penal Code section 187 and a special allegation that he used a knife during the commission of that offense.

Lompoc Police state Whalen stabbed 33-year-old Bennett multiple times near Barkin Park at 300 W Barton Avenue. He died from his injuries.

In a brief court appearance this morning, Mr. Whalen’s arraignment was continued to May 31, 2018, in Department 1 of the Lompoc Superior Court.
