Lompoc Homicide Victim Identified

The Lompoc Police Department identified the man who was shot and killed early Saturday morning as 37-year-old Maurilio De La Cruz.

A GofundMe account has been created by his family to help with funeral expenses.

Summary :
On 02/19/2022, at approximately 12:51 AM, Lompoc Police Department Officers responded to the 1000B N “H” Street for a report of shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a 37 year old male victim with gunshot wounds. Officers and medics rendered medical aid to the victim. Medics transported the victim to a local trauma center, but unfortunately the victim passed away from his injuries. This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the LPD Detective Bureau.

  1. Me and my wife were thinking of buying a home in Lompoc but this kind of stuff is the reason why I’m hesitant about that, I am Mexican with tattoos I don’t want to be a victim of mistaken identity, sad that it happens more often now days, RIP of the story is true

  2. I hear ya, Cadillac; I lived in Lompoc ’77 to ’83 and it was a great little town with friendly people and nice merchants. There were a few gangs, but virtually no shootings. Something went south and now illegal guns are everywhere – not just in Lompoc. Gangs are crankin out ‘ghost guns’ by the thousands and sell them to anybody with a few hundred in cash. Like you say, sad.
