Local Diver Passed Away Near San Miguel Island

The Coroner's Bureau is releasing the name of the diver who passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at San Miguel Island.
Deceased is 59-year-old Richard Toledo of Santa Barbara. Cause and manner of death are pending- no signs of foul play.

I'm curious if anyone has more information about a Santa Barbara diver that passed away near the Channel Islands on Thursday.
Apparently it was during a commercial fishing operation but it doesn't seem to be reported on the news.

Mar 16, 2023 09:37 AMRIP Richard. He also made deliveries for the SB Fish Co. I heard through a friend that he was urchin diving off the islands and had issues with his weight belt ultimately sinking him to the bottom. Sad indeed, good guy.

Mar 11, 2023 08:04 PMWalking along the harbor on Thursday evening I saw SBPD, Harbor Patrol, US Coast Guard, and US Park Police all congregated at the boat launch. I cannot confirm what happened but usually the story will appear, just allow some time .
