  1. SO WHAT? Stay under your rock if you’re so bothered. Each group is clearly spaced apart 6 or more feet so it’s not a concern as to how many people there are. You don’t know if they live in the same house, it’s not your business anyway. In addition, you were at the beach too (unless you are using binoculars like a creep). you sound like the people that sit in traffic and complain about traffic.

  2. See Edhat story this edition: Per SB Public Health “Other activities such as pleasure driving, outdoor housework including gardening, walking, hiking, running, and bicycling, going to the beach or trail walking are still permissible with proper social distancing.” Why are there always people who need to report on other alleged misconduct without taking the time to check it out?

  3. Yesterday it was 91 in my apt and still 80 at 6am this morning. People concerned about other people minding their own business at the beach (park, trail, etc) is kind of sad. I bet some of these people would be in closer proximity to other people in their own residences.

  4. Maybe these Petri dishes think they are rebels…like the creek stabber who ain’t going to end up in a ‘Pretty Woman’ sequel. Tonight I think I will watch one of my all-time fav flicks for the 171st time: Blade Runner….only this time it will be for reals. Out…

  5. Please stop spreading this nonsense! Yes UV rays will kill the virus in large concentration. A concentration so high it’s toxic to humans. You don’t get enough UV rays from the sun to kill the virus or humans.

  6. These two doctors with decades of expertise & practical experience in immunology (which Dr. Fauci does NOT have!) clearly sate that only sick & immunocompromised individuals must be quarantined, not healthy people!

    Fauci advised the opposite.

  7. I’m being won over — by the heat. I have AC, set to 80, it went on twice early a.m. If I was still in my old apartment? It would be horrible, I’d be at the beach. At least out. Don’t pay attention to local news, look at local weather stations on Wundermap. It’s been 95-96 for several days in my neighborhood. I’m super paranoid and support stay at home orders, but going to the beach, hiking, walking? I hope the people criticizing read some articles by medical pros. Sure, I hope all our fellow SB’ers are very cautious. You need everything to fall into place in an unlikely sequence to very casually catch it. No question the beach is healthier than a store!!

  8. You can’t be sure what’s happening on the beach unless you’re there. And even then, you don’t know what the family unit is. Lots of info if you search “what are social distance guidelines for outdoors”

  9. How long and at what cost ? Are we going to live in a bubble forever? What about herd Immunization, have we forgotten how it works ? The heat will kill this and most bugs!! Never in history have we quarantined a healthy population? The death numbers are not correct and likely less, some 98% survive just fine but I guess will see. however I would rather live free than live like this.

  10. gee, look at New York indeed… highest population density in the entire country by a large margin…. they never closed their subway system (it was declared essential) nobody owns cars… massive highrises that are very old construction with large commonly shared ventilation systems… big picture? get real. == https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/if-half-the-countrys-covid-deaths-were-in-montana-would-new-york-shut-down/

  11. All the models for this pandemic are being revisited as models have to be. The problem has always been math haters do not know how to calculated statistics–turns out this virus is just a deadly as all of them (200 others) , BUT representing now 0.1% death , and even if it hits 2%-4% –the number seems large. With great sympathy for families, many of these people were ill and close to death as they tried to prevent ventilator death and complications. Others had other risk factors. That means as we are learning that we may have done the right thing to “close the country”, but “life is still a beach . This has gone on too long and government is sending confusing messages because the “science” is confusing now, even wrong. The outdoors is better for the vulnerable as well. Heat Prostration, dyhydration and low D3 Levels (from the sun) kills more seniors!

  12. I am absolutely appalled by the majority of comments for this posting. Without shutting down the country, we were on track to a major catastrophe, and it’s not just old farts like me who die and have their health ruined for good. Not to mention all the medical personnel who caught the disease, suffered great mental anguish from watching people die gasping like goldfish out of water, and kept working even though we couldn’t get them enough PPE. The longest river in the world in the world is still Da Nile.

  13. Nonsense. The virus lives in water droplets / vapor / phlegm, etc. How long does a sneeze or a loogie last in the direct sun or on the hot sand? That is the only thing you should worry about here. The virus not a bio agent, it has to survive on its host in order to transfer to you. You then have to ingest enough of it to take hold. Think about it. Take a spray bottle of water, spray it onto any service in the direct sun, outdoors. And count. How long does the water stay wet in that scenario? How long did it take to dry and evaporate? Not in a lab, not under a UV light buldb, but in the full sun with a nice breeze. It wont last very long will it? A few seconds, a half min… maybe a little longer. The odds of contracting it outside in the sun are minuscule at best. Be smart, dont touch your face, dont spend time with people who are sick and you will be fine. Dont let fear win. Go outside, be alive.

  14. So all the shedders are going to the beach because they were told UV light kills the virus. Maybe mix some Chlorox with your sunscreen while you’re at it. Me…I prefer patchouli oil to guarantee nobody comes within six feet of me as well as brandishing a pitchfork in the event I notice someone not following ambiguous regulations.

  15. EXACTLY! That’s my point too. What about the Southern Hemisphere countries like Thailand and Indonesia where temeratures are regularly in the 80’s-90’s with high humidity? Explain how heat kills the virus.

  16. Sure, but there is no reason people from the same household should not be able to go to the beach together and maintain distance from others. The problem I see looks more like people who I am certain don’t live together (like groups of adult couples) meeting up and playing volleyball, etc. I agree COVID is a real threat and we need to take precautions, but people cannot literally stay in their houses for years on end for a cure that may never arrive. Especially during a heatwave. It was over 92 in my living room and kitchen the last two days because we don’t have AC. I can’t do this much longer.

  17. Maybe get yourself a portable AC unit. They’re not too expensive. A few hundred bucks. It will save you from the heat and let you sleep. This isnt going to be the only heat wave we’ll experience this year or next.

  18. Do you recommend putting light and heat inside the body to kill the virus too? Your comment is juvenile. The vast majority of groups at the beach are not housemates or families. They are younger people who are friends having a day at the beach with a few families thrown in. Allowing the beaches to be open for sunbathing and picnics is insane. It’s really a recipe for disaster and will likely lead to not only having people from LA and north of us to our beaches, because theirs are closed, to mix with our residents at the beach. Do you know where 50% of those positive with the virus are? Los Angeles County. We are going to increase the spread by keeping the beaches open for things other than exercise.

  19. There was a line of cars along Cliff from Hendry’s past Allen Road. That is ridiculous! I’ve lived up the road a long time and NEVER seen it that long. People think this shut-down is a vacation.
I’m not paranoid, but I think about what my actions could do to someone else and their family.
So, to you people that have the same scientific “facts” as Trump. Wake up!
And, by the way, breezes carry the aerosols with the virus much farther than 6 feet. Oh, and also, UV and heat don’t instantly kill Covid-19.

  20. yknow Greentree… if you had been paying attention to the medical narrative.. you would discover that they are downplaying ventilators lately, as they don’t seem to be proving that effective and may even be harmful to some. Other treatments are emerging that aren’t so terrible. your threats only reveal your inner sickness.

  21. One of the issues not getting enough press is the big part that pre-existing conditions play in this disease and many others. The likelihood of developing diabetes, various heart, high blood pressure, kidney, liver, sleep issues is heavily related to being obese which 1/3 of all Americans are. Another third are overweight. With that kind of numbers, something is going on that isn’t merely personal choice. It’s an American life-style, food quality & availability issue that needs to be solved. The results are pain, limited mobility, depression, and vast expense as we age.

  22. Rescues are way up at the trails. Beaches have lots of people at the beach socializing with people they don’t live with who are sharing food, blankets, sunscreen and playing contact sports… Time to shut both down.

  23. telephoto lens? these are cellphone pics. the photographer is a Wedding Photographer who is obviously salty about being out of work.
he specifically walked down onto the beach and took shots pointing down the beach longwise… and all photos are cropped in a way to make it ‘look more crowded’

  24. “Family” is a misleading criteria. It should be “living together.” If you have a large family that doesn’t live together and you get together on week-ends, someone in the group may be sharing more than love and hugs. Not seeing people your love who don’t live with you is miserable and lonely, but infecting a loved-one, especially those whose age or pre-exisitomg condition makes this disease more deadly for them, is a horrible risk. The “carrier” may not even know they are sick.
