[Friday] evening shortly before 8pm, Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue responded for an injured boulder climber just off West Camino Cielo near the area known as the Brickyard for a trail carry out due to a lower leg injury.

Nine SBCSAR team members responded, along with Santa Barbara County Fire and American Medical Response, including an AMR supervisor to the call. County Fire arrived on-scene and made contact with the injured subject and two others that had been climbing and attempting to hike out the injured subject.

SBCSAR was requested to assist with the carry out and bring a wheel and stokes. The collaborative effort between all agencies involved resulted in a quick extraction of the subject to the trailhead and transfer of care to AMR.

Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue is a professional, all volunteer and unpaid 501(c)3 organization that is community supported by generous giving to provide services to the County of Santa Barbara under the direction of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
