The family of Leyva Elizabeth Oregel, 32, had been searching for her since July 1 until they received the awful news.

Oregel’s body was found Tuesday in a car parked at a shopping plaza in San Diego, near the Mexico border.

San Diego Police Detectives stated Oregel suffered blunt force trauma to her upper body that indicates her death was a homicide. While detectives have not released her name, Oregel’s family confirmed her identity to edhat.

The initial investigation into Oregel’s disappearance was conducted by the Guadalupe Police Department as she was last seen leaving Guadalupe with her ex-husband around 4:00 p.m. on July 1.

According to a flyer her family distributed to local media, her ex-husband, German Armando Luna, drove a black Jeep Cherokee and had been known to previously make threats towards her. They have two daughters together.

The San Diego Police Department stated this is an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no suspect information at this time, according to a press release.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the San Diego Police Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.

  1. How terrible and sad to have to die this way. Please set boundaries early and never ever allow someone to abuse you verbally, emotionally or physically. It gets worse and worse over time as these monsters try to play with you and your boundaries. If it happens, walk away when it is safe to and do not let them know you will leave. Too many abusive people go on their lives without ever having to pay for their abuse or worse. Whoever did this was likely such a coward that he fled to Mexico. I hope the police and karma will catch up to the murderer.
