An online fundraiser has been created to help a local family recover after their Goleta home caught fire.

In the late morning hours of January 30, 2024, Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the 700 block of San Ramon Drive for a 2nd Alarm structure fire response.

Crews found smoke coming and visible flames coming from the front side of the second floor on a two-story residence. One adult male and a small dog were rescued from the second story balcony.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within an hour, but the extensive damage displaced twelve people.

The Padilla and Zell families have created a GoFundMe to help with basic supplies and living expenses after the shock of this fire. The cause has yet to be determined.

“Our home of 26 years was deemed as ‘red tape’ which is considered unlivable and has forced us to alternative housing. Fortunately, our family of 12 including two small dogs made it out unharmed,” the family states in the fundraising page. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this hard time.”
