Dec 10, 2022 06:29 AMWe will be seeing much more of this. I am thankful it’s being reported not hidden from public. My cousin is a police officer he says 90% of the crimes of violence never reach to. Public knowledge.

Dec 12, 2022 09:55 AMMy friend lives in that neighborhood and I visit him all the time. It is normally really quiet, rarely fights and crazy stuff going on ever; at all hours of the night. Safe to walk and the park is always busy with families and people playing basketball, no bums and homeless at all. Totally different than all the other parks in SB. There are the methheads by the tracks and kids always tagging the bridge from their respective gangs, but that is middle school-level danger.

Dec 12, 2022 12:11 PMEHDAT - I have a buddy lives right around the corner from there and I agree. Always pretty mellow, even on weekends late at night. Occasional gang stuff, but definitely not a "high risk" area, especially for non-gang members.

Dec 12, 2022 12:14 PMMEBK - If I understand your comment correctly, your cousin, presumably an officer in SB, says 90% of violent crimes in town are not reported (by) police to the general public. Ask them (why) this high percentage is not reported. To me this doesn't make any sense, especially violent crimes. But what do I know. I tend to believe there was a misunderstanding of their statement but I'd like to learn their explanation.

Dec 12, 2022 12:28 PMSo you guys are saying this is unusual and others are overreacting? Kids always tagging and methheads work for you in SB?

Dec 12, 2022 12:37 PMNope, never said anything remotely close to that.

Dec 10, 2022 11:02 AMThat's not surprising over on the Westside, as well over on the Eastside. Gentrification can't come soon enough on both sides of SB. And that will hurt the good families in the poor working and middle class.

Dec 12, 2022 11:39 AMGIMLI - You seem to praise gentrification as a solution for this? Where are the families of these kids (many being hardworking, dual income parents) going to move? Just push them out of town? Gangs have always been an issue in this town, like every single other city in this country, so it's time for the police to crackdown on the actual criminals, not push everyone out.

Dec 12, 2022 03:17 PMCrackdown on the criminals? How exactly is that going to happen in the CA ‘slap on the wrist’ justice system that has been voted in place? Well…?

Dec 12, 2022 03:23 PMSo there are no criminals being arrested and jailed anymore? Is that really what you're saying? Sure, small crimes/misdemeanors don't usually need jail time and that's good. We don't need to be incarcerating every single person who breaks the law, but if you think CA isn't prosecuting violent crimes anymore, you're not watching/reading actual news.

Dec 12, 2022 03:36 PMNever said that. I think you know what I’m saying. Ask a cop, lawyer, or judge if you don’t.

Dec 12, 2022 03:42 PMYeah, you did actually. You ask how we are supposed to crackdown on the criminals, as I mentioned. Well, we have the cops arrest them and if it's a violent crime, prosecute and incarcerate them. You know, how the justice system works. Ask a cop, lawyer, or judge.

Dec 12, 2022 05:11 PMYou really think we’re being tough on crime? Aw, never mind. You do you.
-

-
-
Dec 12, 2022 05:14 PMNo, we could be tougher, but it's not like we're letting violent criminals get away with rape, murder, deadly assaults, robbery, etc. That's all I'm saying.

Dec 12, 2022 05:45 PMNo one’s saying THAT.

Dec 12, 2022 05:53 PMEh..... kinda are when they make blanket statements about criminals:
"Crackdown on the criminals? How exactly is that going to happen in the CA ‘slap on the wrist’ justice system that has been voted in place?"
"When crimes of all sorts are "excused" as "not being their fault", nothing is prosecuted anymore and some go as far as glorifying crimes and making the victims the guilty ones: this is what you get."

Dec 12, 2022 06:35 PMNo, no one’s saying that dude.

Dec 12, 2022 06:43 PMyeah bro, "crimes of all sorts" includes ALL crimes. Your comment is a little more vague, but it sure does sound like you think violent criminals (which other type are we talking about on an article about fights with weapons and then reported shootings?) just get a "slap on the wrist."
Feel free to clarify, but until then the "no one's saying that" doesn't really work now, does it brah?

Dec 12, 2022 06:48 PMYou’re making up your own quotes to attribute to others Sac! (“crimes of all sorts”). Wow, come on man, just watch the football game.

Dec 12, 2022 07:31 PMUh.... nope. Did you not say those words I quoted? As for the others, see FOND's comment here: https://www.edhat.com/comment/232434#comment-232434
Yeah, I should have provided the link, but got this one mixed up with that one. Either way....
Oh and "just watch the game" says the guy who can't stop commenting.... whatever dude.
