FDA Recalls Baby Formula and Cookie Dough

By the edhat staff

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued recalls of ready made infant formula and chocolate chip cookie dough.

Baby formula manufacturer Abbott is recalling some formula for infants and kids because the bottles may have defective caps and not seal completely, possibly leading to spoilage. The recall is relatively small and should not spark a spark a shortage, according to the company.

“This recall equates to less than one day’s worth of the total number of ounces of infant formula fed in the U.S. and is not expected to impact the overall U.S. infant supply,” according to Illinois-based Abbott, the largest U.S. formula manufacturer.

The voluntary recall is of certain lots of 2 fluid ounce/59 milliliter bottles of Ready-to-Feed liquid products for infants and children, including the brands Similac® Pro-Total ComfortTM, Similac® 360 Total Care®, Similac 360 Total Care Sensitive, Similac® Special Care® 24, Similac Stage 1, Similac® NeoSure®, Similac Water (Sterilized) and Pedialyte Electrolyte Solution.

Nestlé has initiated a voluntary recall of ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestle Toll House Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Fudge Filling products due to the potential presence of white plastic pieces.

The products were produced between June and September 2022 and no other products were impacted, the company stated.

Consumers who may have purchased this product should not prepare or consume it and should return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a replacement or refund. For any further support needed, please contact Nestlé USA at (800) 681-1676 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. EST.

“The quality, safety and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers,” Nestle stated.
