Fatal Traffic Collision Closes Highway 1

As of 1:00 p.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department reports three vehicles were involved in the collision, including a semi-truck hauling celery. 

Four people suffered minor injuries and were transported to Marian Medical Hospital via ground ambulance.

There’s one fatality on scene and fire crews are currently working to extricate the victim. 

The roadway is closed in the area.

Highway 1 is shut down in both directions for a fatal traffic collision near Rancho Maria Golf Course.

California Highway Patrol is reporting a two vehicle collision with an agricultural semi-truck that rolled over with the driver pinned inside and a white VW Jetta on its roof.

The collision took place around noon on Friday. 

CHP has labeled the incident a fatality but further details of the collision have yet to be released.
