Driver Flown to Hospital After Becoming Trapped Under Vehicle

Santa Barbara County firefighters rescued a motorist trapped under a vehicle near Los Alamos on Friday evening.

At 7:17 p.m, firefighters along with a ground and air ambulance responded to Old Dominion and Palmer Roads between Los Alamos and the Santa Maria Valley. They discovered a single vehicle collision with the vehicle rolled over onto its side.

There was one person inside the vehicle who was trapped underneath. To extricate the victim crews enacted an extensive technical rescue and used the Jaws of Life. The victim sustained critical injuries and was transported by helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. 

The current status of the victim is unknown and the cause of the collision is under investigation.
