Indicative of a "bad batch" in the area. If you have an addict in your life, now is an incredibly prudent time to go pick up some Narcan/Naloxone. You can get it over the counter at most pharamacies nowadays. If you are nervous, know that there is no harm is using it "accidentally" or when it wasn't needed. Better safe than sorry!
There is a national increase in drug deaths during this pandemic. A nice combination of joblessness, economic uncertainty, lack of national leadership, stress and general defeatism. Why has there been so much resistance to providing Narcan and such relief to these folks. Something to do with such aid being akin to Socialism or Health Care for All or worse?
IMO, weather you call it socialism or not, it would be far better use of funds to reduce the cost or make free, the insulin for Type 1 diabetics or Epipens for severe allergic reactions. For those people, there was no choice. Drug users made a choice.
There is a 13% increase in drug deaths so far this year versus 2019. According to NYT research, public health experts noted "the overdose rate was on its way back up well before the virus arrived." No doubt the pandemic may be a factor leading to overdoses but obviously it's too early to tell if this will be verified as a significant factor. Narcan can be purchased OTC. Are you suggesting taxpayers pay for this "relief" as is done for Methadone?
