Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday

Remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night

Ready for an extra hour of sleep? It’s that time of year again when we bid farewell to daylight saving time for 2023 and “fall back.”

On the first Sunday of November, which is November 5, most of the U.S., including the City, will turn their clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. While the fall back comes in the middle of the night, most people adjust their clocks before hitting the hay that Saturday night. With this time change, evenings will get darker earlier, but the mornings will be brighter.

The Santa Barbara City Fire Department also wants to remind folks that this is he perfect opportunity to replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and to make sure they’re working properly.

Looking ahead, daylight saving time will make its return on March 10, 2024, thanks to the leap year, giving us an extra day next year.
