Highway 1 will be closed to thru traffic between US Highway 101 in Las Cruces and State Route 246 near Lompoc beginning Monday, August 24 at 6 pm until Tuesday, August 25 at 6 am.
Motorists traveling in both directions will detour by using State Route 246.
- Southbound Highway 1 will remain open for local traffic only from State Route 1 in Lompoc to Santa Rosa Road.
- Northbound Highway 1 will remain open for local traffic only from US 101 to Jalama Road.
This closure is necessary to allow concrete for the new bridge deck to properly cure. This project also includes a retaining wall and fish passage. The contractor for this $5 million project is CalPortland Construction of Santa Maria, CA. This project is expected to be complete by the winter of 2021.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
