Caltrans has re-opened the following bridges on State Route 192 which were damaged in the Montecito Debris Flow in January 2018
- San Ysidro Creek Bridge (PM 9.6)
- Romero Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 10.9)
- Toro Creek Bridge (PM 12.1)
- Toro Canyon Creek Bridge (PM 12.5)
- Arroyo Paredon Creek Bridge (PM 15.4)
Motorists may encounter active construction on some of these bridges until all bridge bicycle railing has been installed. All construction is expected to be completed by mid-December.
The contractor for this $20 million project to restore these five bridges is Security Paving of Sylmar, CA.
Montecito Creek Bridge (PM 8.1): Construction continues during this bridge closure daily from 7 am to 5 pm, weather permitting. There will be intermittent road closures at the intersection of Para Grande Road and SR-192. Caltrans is currently completing underground drainage and creek restoration work.
Construction on the roadway will continue following the relocation of temporary utility poles by the utility companies. This bridge is expected to re-open to traffic in mid-December.
Barricades and locked gates will continue to secure the Montecito Creek location with detours available via local roads. Emergency responders will maintain access to the locked gates for public safety.
Toro Creek Bridge (PM12.1): Construction continues daily from 7 am to 5 pm, weather permitting. The bridge is currently open to one-way traffic control via a stop sign. Caltrans is waiting for the relocation of a temporary utility before resuming roadway work at this location. This bridge is expected to re-open to traffic mid-December.
A segment of State Route 192 is open to motorists but through traffic is strongly advised to continue using US 101. State Route 192 remains closed between Sycamore Canyon Road and Hot Springs Road.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
