Get ready to explore the galaxy this summer with UCSB Arts & Lectures’ 2023 FREE Summer Cinema line-up: “Out of This World.”

The series continues with Luc Besson’s outrageous sci-fi adventure, The Fifth Element at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Garden on Friday, July 28 at 8:30 p.m.

The Fifth Element is presented by UCSB Arts & Lectures. Admission is FREE.

New York City, 2263. Korben Dallas, an ex-soldier turned luckless cab driver, has just picked up the kind of fare that only comes along every five thousand years: Leeloo, the perfect being… the perfect weapon. Together, they must save the world from the universe’s ultimate evil. An extravagantly-styled 23rd century tale of good versus evil, this outrageous sci-fi adventure from acclaimed director Luc Besson stars Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich and Gary Oldman. (Luc Besson, 1997, PG-13, 126 min.)

Free round-trip transportation from the UCSB campus will be available to UCSB students with valid student ID. (Note pick up location in Isla Vista.) Santa Barbara Airbus will depart from Seville Road (near the IV Food Co-op) at 7 PM and the University Plaza loop adjacent to Campbell and Cheadle halls at 7:15 PM, and pick up at 10:45 PM from the Figueroa Street side of the courthouse to return to IV and campus.
