Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a structure fire inside an Isla Vista apartment building on Friday afternoon.

At 2:39 p.m. crews arrived at 6555 Picasso Road, Unit 4 and discovered a fire burning in the second story of a multi-unit apartment building.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within five minutes of arrival. There was one occupant inside the apartment who was able to get out but complained of smoke inhalation. The patient was treated on scene by medical personnel. 

There were no other injuries reported. The fire is under investigation.

I did not hear much over my scanners but read someone else's report on the fire and it sounded pretty bad one unit involved possible injury. I don't want to steal the guys report.

There are 12 units called out. Three appear to be EMT’s. They’re listed on SBC Fire. Heard the sirens and went to check.

They must be on another radio freq. not hearing alot it's apartment 14..Other Fire Companies are covering those that are out on the fire.
