By edhat staff

Some South Coast residents felt an earthquake early Thursday morning with its epicenter in Trona.

At 2:23 a.m., a 4.3 magnitude quake struck the Searles Valley close to the town of Trona and the Mojave Desert.

Several edhat readers wrote in claiming they felt an early morning jolt.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicates reverberations were felt as far as Lompoc and Oxnard with a cluster of reports in Simi Valley and Frazier Park.

The same area was hit by the 6.4 and 7.1 earthquakes in 2019. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
