2.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Carpinteria

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck Carpinteria on Sunday evening.

Residents reported feeling a jolt around 6:18 p.m. and it was quickly confirmed to be an earthquake.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reports the quake struck 2.5 miles east-southeast of Carpinteria’s city center. 

There was no reported damage, although one resident stated their salt shaker moved slightly to the left.
