There isn't a crossing behind the zoo. Sorry the guy got hit (unless he was committing suicide by train), but he shouldn't have been on the tracks.

"Pedestrians" are not allowed on the train tracks. Trespasser is the better term. We can't even access train tracks for volunteer clean ups. Pedestrian label sends the wrong message- makes it sound like it is an authorized public right of way. It clearly is not.

According to Noozhawk which used the word "pedestrian" in the title: "...Witnesses told Noozhawk the man appeared to have been drinking and may have passed out.

When the train engineer saw the man in his path, he hit the brakes and sounded the horn, and the victim jumped off the tracks at the last minute.

However, he was struck by the train, which had been traveling about 40 mph, and suffered moderate injuries, Tieso said."
