Peoples’ Self-Help Housing (PSHH) welcomes two new passionate community development professionals into their Multi-Family Housing Development (MHD) department: Angela Heyward and Veronica Zimmerman.

“We are thrilled to have Angela and Veronica joining us,” says PSHH President & CEO John Fowler. “They both come to us with a wealth of knowledge and professional insight that will undoubtedly benefit the forward progression of our organization.”

With over seventeen years of financial management and real estate development experience, Angela Heyward is joining PSHH as the Deputy Director of Multifamily Housing Development. Previously, Angela has served as Director of Asset Management for the Cesar Chavez Foundation and Interim Assistant Director for the Office of the Treasurer with the City and County of San Francisco. Prior to Angela’s work in nonprofit housing development, she received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Howard University and received an MBA from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Real Estate and Finance.

Veronica Zimmerman comes with over fifteen years’ experience in both commercial and nonprofit community development. Leading teams in the production of affordable housing and neighborhood improvement projects, her areas of expertise include project management consensus building real estate development, and sustainable design practices. As the PSHH Director of Business Development Veronica negotiates project acquisitions throughout Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. She also develops strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and advises on policy matters affecting affordable housing development at the local, regional, and state level.

The Multi-Family Housing Development department oversees the acquisition and project management of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing’s affordable rental housing. This critical department moves the PSHH mission forward by pursuing opportunities for creating new affordable housing throughout the Central Coast. With nearly 2,000 rental units currently in occupancy, and many more down the pipeline, the MHD team is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to build affordably and safely home more residents in need.
