Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program

Tina Hansen McEnroe, M.A., L.H.D. (h.c.), was recently named Executive Director of the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program. A founding member 30 years ago, she has contributed in many ways to the advancement of the nonprofit, whose motto is “Walk-Trot-Heal”. Her award-winning career path led from Education Specialist at Vista De Las Cruces School to “Schoolmarm” at her 1869 Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse. She is also Founder and Associate Director of the McEnroe Reading and Language Arts Clinic at UCSB and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Cal Poly, SLO. Tina’s Western and English equestrian background includes Miss California Rodeo, cattle ranching, riding instruction to children and cross country jumping.

Tina shares, “This incredible program has had a special place in my heart for three decades, and I look forward to my newest role in helping to advance SYVTRP’s mission of using the horse to assist in healing the human.” She and her husband Paul reside on their Santa Ynez Valley’s Rancho La Purisima, enjoying visits by their five children and seven grandchildren.

Tina wishes to acknowledge founder, Dr. Mary Ann Evans as well as the TRP Board, led by President Chris Seltzer.

The Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to provide quality equine-assisted activities to children and adults with physical, cognitive, social, emotional and or other life challenges, regardless of their ability to pay.
