ASAP Cats Welcomes New Executive Director

SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA, SEPTEMBER 2022 — ASAP Cats (ASAP) is proud to introduce Jessica Wiebe as its newest Executive Director. With 19 years of animal welfare experience — 11 of which were spent at Santa Barbara County Animal Services — Wiebe brings a honed skillset working with all species, coupled with strong ties and familiarity with the ASAP community’s achievements in saving cats’ lives.

Starting out in private practice as a veterinary technician, Wiebe quickly became a professional within the animal welfare sector. Since 2011 she has risen through progressively leadership-based roles at Santa Barbara County Animal Services. She has additionally served on the statewide Cal Animals Emergency Management Committee for the past two years, focusing on preparedness and live support for disaster response. Immersing herself in animal care, especially with a concentration on protection and rescue, has fully prepared her to seamlessly join the team at ASAP and help move it forward in its mission. “ASAP is a unique organization, and Jessica comes to us with a deep understanding of who we are and where we have come from,” says ASAP Board President Bernard Kelmenson. “Jessica is the purrrfect person to lead ASAP to an even more impactful future.”

Wiebe’s roots in the community stretch back through five generations of family ranching and raising livestock in Santa Barbara County. In addition to camping and mentoring children involved in 4-H, she enjoys spending time with her family and her house full of pets, including four dogs, several barn kitties, a pig, and a bearded dragon.

ASAP Cats is an organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats in Santa Barbara County by providing shelter, veterinary care, behavioral support, adoption and foster services, education, and community outreach.
