  2. OK, I ride motorcycles- I KNOW motorcycles, big and small. The bikes that a municipality like Santa Barbara is using are TOO BIG for what they use them for….! They are using HIGHWAY BIKES…! They need 450cc Enduros NOT 1300cc behemoths ! All they use them for is traffic in an urban setting- the speed limts in town are no higher than 45MPH. There is absolutely ZERO justification for riding such large bikes in SB…. except the bonehead who orders them gets his EGO stroked! Break with tradition SBPD- COME ON!

  3. It was obviously no reason at all because he continued cruising along not far in front of us for miles. He was so reckless, my wife actually thought he had hit our car and yet the slow lane was totally empty for him to pass. I see examples of officers on phones, blowing through stop signs, and always speeding everywhere they go.

  4. Interesting point. In SF they use the smaller enduro style bikes to patrol the parks and downtown. I wonder why they’re on the big ones here. You know who else could use dirt bikes? The SBSO and the Search and Rescue. A decent rider can take a dirt bike up any of our mountain trails in minutes. With all the issues we have on the mountains, I never understood why we didn’t have a few of these bikes ready to go. Instead, they walk up or rely on a helicopters. Hope the guy heals up soon. Pavement hurts!
