Hundreds of dancers joined the annual Halloween flash mob that took place in the Sunken Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

Since 2010, World Dance for Humanity has organized a spooktacular Thriller event at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens. This year they went beyond “Thriller.”

Dr. Janet Reineck, Executive Director of World Dance for Humanity

On the lawn of Santa Barbara’s Courthouse Sunken Gardens, a free Halloween Dance Fest encouraged people of all ages to join in. The Flashmob did much more than Michael Jackson’s spooky hit, this year they performed dances to Ghostbusters, Monster Mash, Superstition, This is Halloween (from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”), Another One Bites the Dust, and Killer Queen.

World Dance for Humanity donated proceeds from the event to AHA!’s After School Teen Program, the Westside Boys & Girls Club, and to their WD4H Rwanda Education Fund, which will give 220 Rwandan students a chance to go to school in 2020.

The non-profit’s mission is to bridge cultures through movement and help people in need by supporting small, sustainable, grassroots projects locally and in the developing world. All charitable donations and class fees go to underserved communities where a small amount of money can inspire hope and change lives, and where we can develop deep connections to the people we serve.
