Santa Barbara City Council approved a pilot program that will enhance the permit and review process for future commercial tenants.
The program will include a system of prioritization for projects and staff dedicated to streamlining the review process, as well as a reliable phone line for questions and concerns regarding commercial space.
There are numerous vacancies in the downtown portion of State Street Retail with revitalization as a major concern by the City of Santa Barbara.
The pilot program is set to have a six-month term, but could be extended by the City.
