Maybe after the entire community has risen up to support the folks of Montecito during this horrible calamity, maybe Montecito will now release their grip upon the widening of the 101 freeway? Wouldn’t it be great IF their whining about tree removal and other pathetic arguments are dropped to show respect for the tens of thousands of people daily that are negatively affected by their selfishness regarding the freeway widening. As I am driving through Montecito on the 101 at 5 mph lately, I find myself daydreaming about Caltrans just adding another lane, overnight,while they are removing the millions of cubic yards of debris from the floods. Wouldn’t that be great. Amazingly, the freeway traffic disappears when it widens to three lanes both north and south bound. Maybe it is time for the Montecitans to loosen their grips on everyone else’s fate for a change.
