Strong & Potentially Damaging Winds Expected in Santa Barbara County through Friday:

* WINDS AND TIMING… The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM PDT THURSDAY and a HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM THURSDAY TO 3 AM PDT FRIDAY. Areas of northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected this evening, with isolated gusts up to 50 mph in the western foothills. From Thursday morning into Thursday night, northwest to north winds are expected to increase to 25 to 40 mph with damaging gusts of 50 to 60 mph likely…strongest across the mountains and foothills and during the afternoon and evening hours. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Secure all loose outdoor furniture in advance of the onset of strong winds. Winds this strong may down trees and power lines, causing property damage or power outages. Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers along Highways. When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds.
