The City of Santa Barbara collected $2,229,391 in transient occupancy taxes (TOT) for June 2021. TOT revenues in June 2021 were $1.4 million above June collections last year—which was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions and travel advisories.  Compared to June 2019, June 2021 revenues were higher by 17%; however, this is largely due to increased average daily rates, which are 20% higher than June 2019, with occupancy only slightly higher by 1%.

The local travel industry is now seeing increases in demand for rooms relative to recent months that is likely to continue throughout the summer months as the State has lifted travel advisories and as access to vaccinations has become more available.

June is the final month in the City’s fiscal year. The City has collected $15.5 million in fiscal year 2021, which is about 10% below the City’s adopted TOT budget of $17.2 million.

4:14: Vagrants are not "vulnerable". They are grifters and con artists and know exactly what they are doing to keep their lucrative scam going. You mislabel the problem, since their reckless presences and actions make the rest of the city vulnerable. We are the vulnerable ones. They are the bad actors. Pays to clarify if you are trying to induce guilt, enable or shift blame. "Have nots" are covered by our generous social welfare system; Carbajal, Limon and Bennet are responsible for the "can nots"; and our poor city management and dual legal enforcement system enablers have created the "will-nots" transient problem. We know the difference.

If by "the transient problem" you mean the risk of short term, young, alcohol seeking, COVID-19 carriers, the comment is sarcastically well meant. But something tells me the post is just another cheap shot at the vulnerable. What sort of life does the poster have that compels her or him to turn even a boring report on tax revenue into such meanness?
