Hit and run suspect running from the law in Carpinteria. Sheriff's Deputies are setting up a perimeter searching for the suspect, described as a light-skinned Hispanic adult male with a red backpack. The vehicle is apparently stolen as well.

Update by Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office

Shortly after 9am, Deputy Cabasag tried to catch up to a vehicle that smelled of burning rubber in the 5700 block of Via Real. The vehicle sped away, crashed into several objects and cut through a construction area before driving up an embankment and landing on the Linden Overpass.
