The Hoppy Heart
Just in time for Valentine’s Day: The Hoppy Heart!
Food From The Heart in collaboration with Draughtsmen Aleworks announce The Hoppy Heart, a fundraiser to benefit Food From The Heart.
The event takes place on Thursday, February 6th from 5pm to 7pm at Draughtsmen Aleworks in the Mosaic Locale at 1131 State Street and will feature a delicious selection of beer and wine as well as appetizers prepared by Buenas Ondas and Food From The Heart. Tickets include a keepsake glass, a beer, appetizers, and fun! All proceeds raised during this event will benefit Food From The Heart.
The Hoppy Heart is being produced by a cohort of this year’s Katherine Harvey Fellows Program. Katherine Harvey Fellows is an 18-month experiential education program managed by Leading From Within that focuses on training community leaders to best utilize their skills towards programs that will improve the lives of our residents and the challenges our community faces.
“This is a fantastic way to explore our ability to impact a wonderful community organization,'' said Samantha Onnen, one of the event organizers. “We are actively looking at ways to engage younger generations (in particular Millennials) in finding ways they can “give back” to the Santa Barbara community. We want to connect non-profits to their next generation of donors and volunteers.”
Tickets to this event are $25 per person, and can be purchased by visiting https://nightout.com/events/hoppy-heart/tickets
Food From the Heart is a non-profit organization that provides weekly bags of food to individuals who live alone, are battling a major illness or recovering from surgery and do not have the financial resources to hire a caregiver or outside food service. The bulk of the work is done by over 60 dedicated volunteers each week who prepare, package, and deliver the meals to 160 recipients in need.
