The Granada Theater Documentary Screening – April 3, 2024

CELEBRATE 100 Years of the Arts in Santa Barbara 

The Granada Theatre to host a screening of their documentary; one-day free admission on April 3, 2024 

WHAT: The Granada Theatre will be screening a special documentary that commemorates the theater’s cultural significance in Santa Barbara. The creator of the film is award-winning filmmaker April Wright. Joining her will be film historian and professor of Cinema Studies, Ross Melnick and special guests for a memorable evening.

The Granada Theatre first opened on April 9, 1924. The theater first started as a vaudeville and silent movie palace and then it had its time as a premiere Warner Bros movie theater. Most recently, the theater embraced its presence in the area as a performance center. With its 100^th anniversary approaching, The Granada Theatre is celebrating its anniversary all year round with special centennial events.

ABOUT THE GRANADA THEATRE 
Built in 1924, and celebrating its 100^th anniversary in 2024, The Granada Theatre has been integral to Santa Barbara’s arts and entertainment landscape for a century. This state-of-the-art venue with 1,500 seats boasts a legacy of hosting world-class performances and is home to eight resident companies: American Theatre Guild, CAMA, Santa Barbara Choral Society, Music Academy, Opera Santa Barbara, State Street Ballet, The Santa Barbara Symphony, and UCSB Arts and Lectures.
