Professor Kimberly West-Faulcon, holder of the Loyola Law School James P. Bradley Chair in Constitutional law, will share her insights regarding Justice Scalia’s impact on the Supreme Court. In his 30 years on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Antonin Scalia used constitutional law doctrine to sideline the claims of discrimination against women, racial minorities, and LGBTQ persons.
Many legal disputes are on the horizon for the newly-constituted Supreme Court, including, the rights of religious opponents to same-sex marriage, racial affirmative, the right to bear arms and President Trump’s travel ban executive order.
Professor West-Faulcon received the Angier B. Duke Scholarship and graduated from Duke University, Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, While an undergraduate she studied the Political Economy of Great Britain at Oxford Universityand laterclerked for the Honorable Stephen R. Reinhardt.
