Identities Released in Santa Maria Murder-Suicide

On January 16, 2020, Santa Maria Police were called to a residence on the 800 block of west Creston. Upon arrival officers located two deceased adults who each sustained a gunshot wound. The preliminary investigation indicated a murder-suicide. The deceased adults were identified as husband and wife. The victim is identified as Zoila Reyna Ramirez, 58 years of age. The suspect is identified as Roberto Alcala Ramirez, 64 years of age.

The Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate and still attempting to identify a motive. SMPD is asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact Detective Silver at (805) 928-3781 X1346. The Santa Maria Police Department would also like to refer the community to additional resources available to those suffering from a mental health illness or domestic violence. Santa Maria Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide that took place in a residence Thursday afternoon, January 16.

Police responded to the 800 block of West Creston Street for reports of shots fired. They discovered a husband and wife in their late 50's that died from one gunshot each.

Their names have not been disclosed and the motive is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
