What Caused the Cave Fire?

Just for clarity - since this fire started in the National Forest area, it is under Forest Service jurisdiction, not SB County Fire. The Forest Service would be who is investigating it.

What Caused the Cave Fire?

It was started by a person, not sure who that person is or if it was an accident. But in time we will know.

What Caused the Cave Fire?

Let’s look at the information we do have. Point of origin was nowhere near utility lines or infrastructure. The fire eventually came to threaten some major lines but that was later. There was not a lightning strike, or car accident. The only other options are; illegal campfire/ cooking fire, cigarette litter, unintentional, like shooting or brush trimming or arson. Only one of these options does not involve people, and lightning was clearly not the cause. So yes , a person caused this fire And eventually we will know who and why.

I sure hope not. Where'd you get that piece of information? I haven't heard anything at all.

Don't hold your breath. There's still no "official" cause for the Holiday Fire of July 2018.

Climate change does not increase the frequency and destructive outcome of fires, droughts do. Man trying to control nature (i.e. stopping/preventing natural fires) also increases the frequency and destructive outcome of fires. Macpuz can call me a denier, but you could literally put "due to climate change" after everything. How about we just do our best to stop polluting our planet? And have less babies, because people are the number one cause of anthopogenic climate change, less people = healthier planet. Of course none of our political shills using climate change rhetoric just to get elected will mention that.

What Caused the Cave Fire?

Technically true probably, but drought years and dry brush <do> contribute to the likelihood of any spark finding fuel.

Are you intentionally obtuse or does it just come naturally? Climate change doesn't cause fires. It increases the frequency and destructive outcome of fires.

What Caused the Cave Fire?

Definitely climate change! Mother earth is punishing us for our collective sin! We must repent now before it is too late! The fire has nothing to do with our leadership or our forest land management practices.

Officials know but are being very hush hush about it... perhaps it's time for the Fire Department to provide some factual information to the community about the start of the fire that nearly ravaged our town.

At least it wasn't their own fire that got out of control.

yea they really should be held accountable for putting out a fire they didn’t start and not releasing the cause quickly enough for you

@Mudgeon - would it be a source if you gave it up?? Let's get some accountability from our public agencies.
