Breakfast and bathtime on Mesa. Morning coffee, snack time, bathtime, and an infrequent visitor.

Did you notice that you have a nutmeg mannikin (or spice finch) on your vertical feeder? This is a nonnative bird that apparently escaped in Goleta and naturalized. They seem to have multiplied enough to be appearing regularly in Santa Barbara proper. I had one at my feeder but the other birds were not nice to it.

What are those red things you're feeding to your birds? They look like kidney beans, but I know that can't be right. And------yes. I saw a chipmunk in my Malvaviscus hedge a few days ago. Kept hearing chirping and was much surprised to see a furry little guy and not some rare bird. Last time I saw chipmunks in my yard was years ago and that was a first back then.

Nothing more delightful than watching birds take their bath. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. Brightened my day.

I'm happy that this was my first read on Saturday morning!

Love that last photo. In our neighborhood, we seem to have had an explosion in the chipmunk population this year.

So wonderful! We are so blessed to be living so close to the mountains where we can regularly spot bobcats, racoons, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, squirrels, quail, I even saw a roadrunner this morning up on Farren Road in Goleta! Wonderful. I LOVE our local wildlife.
