Negotiations between Hollister Ranch and the Coastal Commission have resulted in a plan to have a 3/4 mile stretch of beach open to the public, however, this beach is 2 miles from parking at Gaviota so access would only be by boat, kayak, paddle. A judge will rule on this issue in July and has given the public until the end of June to comment. This is information I read in the Independent and the LA Times.

Nowhere did it mention how or where to comment. Does anyone know how we, as the public, can make our thoughts on this known on this issue?

Public Comment on Coastal Commission

Today's LA Times (Sunday June 17) in the "California" section B, first page, has another good article, by Steve Lopez, on this very restrictive deal. Among other things it points out that the winds and waves off the beach can be treacherous, so very dangerous to those ordinary folks who do try to approach the beach by kayak or raft or paddle board, or soft-bottomed boat (the approved means under this decision). The Coastal Commissioners set a very bad precedent with this agreement, and we need to force them to listen to the public that they've ignored.

According to columnist Steve Lopez in this morning's Los Angeles Times: " for more information, court documents and a history of the case go to -- coastal.ca.gov/hollister-ranch. " More importantly, "And you can make your feelings known before then (he is referring to the next month's Coastal Commission hearing in Santa Cruz concerning Hollister ranch access) by sending an email to hollister@coastal.ca.gov. " Steve and the Los Angeles Times have been stalwart providers of the facts regarding the Coastal Commission's cases, and recent coziness with developers and wealthy land owners. Well worth the price of an on-line or newspaper subscription.

My error was that I copied the address with the period at the end. Without the period the message did go through. Sorry for confusing this.

Tried to send to the 'email' you show. No luck. Looked at Coastal Comm site which offers no place to comment. Is there a better contact?
