Does anyone know whose large yacht is anchored off the Montecito? This photo was taken on Thursday around 2pm.
What a kook.
Keep LA 100 miles away
Looks like it would have made a great reef. Perhaps a wildlife sanctuary. Just think, all the guests at the Miramar could have been motored out to the new reef so that they could snorkel about it's stunning magnificence.
Rick Caruso does not live in Santa Barbara or Montecito, but he has established a family charitable foundation and recently donated $50 million dollars to Peppedine Law School, as well as supporting the Reagan Presidential Library Foundation. From a web search his donations support.............."children living in areas of high crime and extreme poverty through educational opportunities. Through faith-based universities of the highest academic excellence, environmental awareness, and quality healthcare programs for disadvantaged communities – The Caruso Family Foundation works with the most disenfranchised youth within the Los Angeles community to change their life’s trajectory....."
Beautiful sight to see.
I suspect Byzantium is describing the motivation that led him/her to choose to live here!
5:14PM - See Towbes and Luria, not Caruso.
Caruso does not live in Santa Barbara so he is not part of our prior local residents tradition of local philanthropy. However you can search the Caruso Family Foundation online and see what drives his charitable giving history, including recently $50 million dollars to the Pepperdine School of Law. He has also been a generous supporter of the Reagan Presidential Library, which is a great place to visit to be reminded of troubled times in our past history and how clarity of principles got us through them. And will again.
What or which "charitable investments and civic volunteerism" has Mr. Caruso done for Santa Barbara/Montecito in the past and/or now?
It is a special place due no small part to the charitable investments and civic volunteerism in the past. Honor them; don't resent them. And be grateful that many get to take a free ride making far more modest contributions, due to these prior generous philanthropic gifts - which are rapidly getting undermined by both new attitudes and wrongful decisions that will quickly undo this prior careful curation of this very special place.
Ironically, they wouldn’t let him on the beach because he’s not staying at the hotel...
Put the phone down. Enjoy the beach. Enjoy others successes. Its theres, not yours. You have the freedom to make that kind of money if you want no one is stopping you
Curious why this town is so riddled with vocal class envy. Yet these same people come here to be around the benefits for wealthy people, the quality of life associated with this class envy, and enjoy the gifts that long time personal philanthropy has bestowed upon this town,. But just as easily they quickly bite the hands that feed their demand for this higher quality of life found here. Not sure they need as much media space as they get to keep spewing this class envy. They are both happy and unhappy to be here at the same time. Schadefreude describes it best. So it is a universal human condition. They just sound silly in the long run. And predictable. You can just count down the seconds for their eat the rich replies.
aw, both of you: it's "Schadenfreude" :-)
Michael Toewbes and Eli Luria didn’t have no stink in’ yachts; they did live here full time though and put their hearts into the community along with a good bit of scratch. The yacht owner? Not in the same class at all. 5gallons per mile I bet to boot. Now that’s some conspicuous consumption.
Fascinating how you're able to describe your own action in the action of others. Especially the Schadefreude part. But sadly to no avail. Comparison is a natural act as is envy. Look at LeBron James in the NBA playoffs (Even though I suspect you eschew basketball). He didn't get the MVP for the season. Beat out by a good but not yet great player. In his interview last night he mentioned he only received 18 of the 180ish first place votes. This angers him. His "envy" has thus stoked a fire under his mission to win. It's a game, obviously, but works as a model for life. Here's a guy who has the best of himself geared towards focus and achievement of goals. Should the Lakers win the finals, he'll be Finals MVP and be the first to win that prestigious award on three different teams. So as for that Yacht? It's rare. Whomever "owns" it is rare. They're also probably rarely on that yacht. Employees spend more time on it. It's fascinating as well. Some of us find fire in ourselves to be our best by comparison to others.
Looks top-heavy. Probably rolls like a pig.
any oil rich arab sheikh would kill himself in shame if he owned a stubby little yacht like that
The Invictous. Just check marinevesseltrafic.com. It shows all those little boats/ ships out there.....she’s down San Diego way now......probably for a weekend gathering where no one has to worry about not having large parties a la Covid rules.
Guess they didn’t have any rooms available for him at the hotel. Oh well.
5:41PM. Or he doesn’t want to risk COVID...
Miramar rick caruso. Living the good life
Oh sorry I forgot to park it, let me go get it..
Caruso? Perfect. Montecito has long been a haven for the wealthy, so I guess that's the way it goes. But I miss the Miramar/Hammond's of the old days a lot. Jacque on the bike chasing us around, the Pharmacy, casa dorinda bike sessions. We weren't rich, but the experiences sure were.
Hey Rio Sandoo, you ever run with a crew called the Black Widows?
Yo Jacque, put a shirt on! While your at it some shorts. I don't think riding a bike in a Speedo would be ok these days, it's not the south of France, sheesh.
Invictus, kinda smallish at 216' at a paltry $100,000,000 compared to Jerry's 2&1/2 mil...no helipads here.
Lily Peyton is correct. It’s past tracking shows Invictus was in town yesterday. Now back at its home port. Attached the charter photos. Only cost $525,000 per week. No available to USA residents.
$525,000 per week is the "winter rate." Summer rate = $616,500 per week.
Just one more sign of the growth in income disparity, coupled with conspicuous consumption.
$525k a week. Unfathomable
Hard to track without a name. Might be a yacht named “Plan B” built by ADM shipyard. She is currently anchored at Santa Cruz Island and beach tender is out exploring the island. He is the second d richest person in Belgium, money is from natural resources. He ordered 6 yachts, but cancelled 4 post-Covid. This is his newest yacht.
That yacht is a different one to the one posted here, but the one you're talking about has a helipad and the helicopter N163WT linked with the yacht has been flying around the channel islands for the past couple of days. From twitter it appears to be owned by Ted Waitt, but not sure if that's true.
ALWAYS RUNNING — I read "He is the second richest person in Belgium" as "He is the second richest person in Buellton" and thought, WTF?
Yes I have been told it is Rick Caruso
