Aug 05, 2020 04:14 PMIt is extremely irresponsible to engage in high-speed pursuits on city streets, and this is the second time we've had an 80+ mph chase prior to it finally being called off for safety reasons. In Canada, they won't even start pursuing people because they recognize how dangerous it is...

Aug 05, 2020 05:00 PMThe police were not pursuing him at 80 mph on Modoc they were pursuing him on the freeway and he got off on Turnpike he was doing 80 mph all by himself on Modoc. Earlier when the police were not pursuing him he hit another vehicle at State and Hope all by himself again at first the crime was a 20002 non injury hit and run later on it was changed to 20001pc a felony. There is also a felony on the car which means it was either involved in another felony crime or stolen....They were not chasing him on Modoc when he was doing 80 all by himself.

Aug 06, 2020 02:28 AMCMKR; great idea in Canada, perhaps, but in the US if the cops fail to pursue bad guys, the bad guys are empowered to act with impunity. Cops in the US exercise care and call off pursuits when they become too risky; hear it all the time. But they don't just quit when someone is endangering the public or is a dangerous felon. It is a balance, and not a simple issue. I don't know if it is true that Canadian LE 'won't even start pursuing people,' but if so, then crooks would know to just speed away, home free. Not much of a deterrent.

Aug 06, 2020 11:53 AMThis is one of my most hated acts from the police, doing this endangers all people around. They Have the license plate they have him on camera and most of the time he is being followed by a helicopter. So let the helicopter do it’s job in following him, he will stop and run, most Of the time he goes back home or to his mothers house, right. Then he’ll be caught . Unless he’s committed murder or kidnapped someone, I don’t feel a petty crime is worth endangering other people’s life’s. And we all have insurance on our cars right. A stolen material object or traffic crime is not worth it.
Calm down, and breath be smarter then the idiot criminal, to much adrenaline going on both sides, that’s how things get out of control. Which has been the mainstream problem right now.
